Today at work one of my colleagues commented that I just needed to relax and then I will get pregnant. Since I’m nice in real life, I smiled and said, “Hmmm…maaaybeee.”
On the inside I was thinking, “Just ‘cause you got knocked up on accident while you were wasted doesn’t mean I will, too.”
I’m glad I edited that in reality.
But, as I’ve mentioned in a previous post, that comment irks me. Simply because I want to plan the conception of my (our) baby does not mean I’m tense or uptight. Planning and relaxing aren’t mutually exclusive.
I AM RELAXED, DAMNIT!

Hello blog buddy! Thanks to you, I am now singing that song. "Relax, don't do it!"
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in my prayers! I know how it feels to want to be pregnant.
Shoot me an email when you get a chance. I'd love to chat with you more! ourimperfectlife@yahoo.com
I have heard from many friends struggling with fertility that the "just relax" comment is extremely annoying. Doctors have even said it "just have a vacation"
ReplyDeleteIt seems a pretty insensitive remark, like somehow you are trying your ovaries in a knot by being overanxious.
Anyway- I wish you a happy and quick conception.
Visiting from SITS on blogfrog.
Did you punch her in the face? That was always my first instict every time I heard that. I swear I'd see red stars!!
ReplyDeleteI so wish you hadn't edited your thoughts. I think I will tell the next person that who has the nerve to tell me to "just relax". Like I really thought that being stressed out and freaking like a raving lunatic was the answer to getting preggers. I mean, really already?
